ABOUT US

ANIMAL WELFARE ACT

At Edwards Pet Spa, I respect and follow the guidelines set out in the Animal Welfare Act 2007. Section 9 of this Act places a duty of care on humans to ensure they take responsible steps, at all times, to meet the welfare needs of their animals.

It lists these 5 freedoms which cover an animal’s welfare needs. In my salon, I know how important it is to follow these to the letter, making sure your pets are looked after properly.

As a dog lover I am sure you will support these principles and aim to abide by them too.

BASIC HEALTH CHECK

When you bring your dog to Edwards Pet Spa I will welcome your dog in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and ensure your dog is confident and at ease before performing a basic health check. You should also try these checks at home on a regular basis so that any changes can be picked up, and vet attention sought early on if necessary.

I check and record the conditions of the following:

  • Eyes

  • Coat

  • Visible parasites

  • Ears

  • Mouth and teeth

  • Genitalia

  • Skin

  • Nails

  • Overall demeanour

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from discomfort

3. Freedom from pain, injury and disease

4. Freedom to express normal behaviour

5. Freedom from fear and distress
